Here we are going to discuss a problem that has been encountered by several people, and therefore, we will provide its possible solutions in this article. The issue occurs when you try to record a show on your AT&T DVR but it doesn't record any contents. Although, recording a program on your AT&T U-Verse total home DVR is easy and by pressing the "Record" button on your receiver or remote, you can easily record any programs.

But if there is any problem with your equipment, then it may prevent you from recording your favorite TV shows, sporting events or movies. There are many reasons that can cause this problem with the U-Verse DVR, for example, loose or incorrect connections between the equipment, the device may require to be reset or there is not enough space to accommodate additional programs on your device and more.

Checking Connections

First, you must make sure that all the connections between different equipment are proper.

  • For this, you need to inspect the connections on your total home DVR, residential gateway, as well as, on other U-Verse receivers. Any loose connection can interrupt your DVR's recording and playback features.

  • Also, check the power supply cords, HDMI cables, as well as, other video or audio connections between the DVR and television and make sure they aren't loose.

  • Since the Uverse residential gateway makes a wireless communication with the U-Verse receivers, hence it should be placed in an area where the equipment can receive wireless signal easily. If you place the residential gateway in an area which is completely closed, like an enclosed entertainment center, it may impact the functionality of your DVR.

Scheduling Conflicts

There might be a conflict of time between multiple recordings as when you try to record more than one recordings simultaneously, then one recording may interrupt the other. For this, inspect the scheduled recordings to make sure that there are no conflicts.

  • First, hit the "Menu" button on the receiver or remote, then visit "Recordings" and choose "Scheduled." Now, you'll find all scheduled and active recordings. There will be an "X" mark next to the recordings with time conflict indicating that it's not valid.

  • Although, AT&T boasts that you are able to record 4 programs at a time, but this is not the case with the U-verse DVR as it allows only 2 concurrent HD recordings. And if you try to record more HD programs, you'll get a message to set alternative time for additional recording or switch the recording to standard definition.

Lack of Recording Space

In case you have not enough space on your DVR, then you won't be able to record any additional programs until you clear the space on your DVR.

  • Go to the Recordings menu, and choose "Recording Space." In case the DVR is full or approaching capacity, hit "Back" and choose "Browse Recordings".

  • Choose a recording, press "OK" and choose "Erase" to remove the recording to free up some space.

Restarting the Equipment

If you restart your device, it can resolve many problems instantly. Simply, unplug all the equipment and leave for at least 10 seconds. Plug all devices and turn on them.

If you still encounter the recording issue, dial AT&T U-verse customer service number 24/7 for help.
